October 6, 2025 SPECIAL SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEDERLAND 5:00 p.m. October 6,2025 1. MEETING The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m.by Mayor Jeffrey P.Darby at the Nederland City Hall,207N 121 Street, Nederland, Texas. See attached for quorum. The following statement was posted: "PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.07, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY LICENSE HOLDER WITH AN OPENLY CARRIED HANDGUN), A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (HANDGUN LICENSING LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A HANDGUN THAT IS CARRIED OPENLY." 2. A motion was made by Councilmember Sonnier and seconded by Mayor Pro Tern Ortiz to approve Resolution No. 2025-15, authorizing the submission of a State Homeland Security Program Grant Application. MOTION CARRIED. AYES: Mayor Darby,Councilmembers Jones,Sonnier,and Ortiz. NOES: None. ABSENT: Councilmember Duplant 3. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency. WHEREAS, the Nederland City Council deems it necessary to apply for SHSP and UASI—Supporting Border Crisis Response and Enforcement Projects(HSGP-BC), FFY 2025 grant. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEDERLAND,TEXAS,THAT: Section 1. The Nederland Police Department is authorized to submit a State Homeland Security Program grant application in the amount of $59,877.34. Section 2. That the Nederland City Council approves submission of the grant application for the Terrorism Prevention Project 2025 to the Office of the Governor.
