1. CALL THE MEETING TO ORDER
The workshop was called to order at 3:00 p.m. by Mayor Albanese at the Nederland
City Office Building, 207 N. 12th Street, Nederland, Texas. See attached for quorum.
2. STREETS "km Es STREET LIGHT PROGRAMS
Chris Duque, City Manager, stated the 2019-2020 street program budget is
$3,745,878.00. The proposed streets and street light programs are divided into 5
main components: Hot Mix Overlay projects, Concrete Repairs, Drainage
Improvements, Street Markings 84. Paint, and Street Lights.

1. HOT MIX OVERLAY:
Chris Duque, City Manager, said a total of $1,249,950 is allocated for the hot mix
overlay / resurfacing project and staff recommends the following projects:

2. Concrete Repairs:
Mr. Duque reported a total of $1,182,300 is allocated for concrete street repairs. He
said the City completed concrete repairs on Helena from 27t• to the frontage road and
the remaining section is scheduled for this year. Bourque Road is a chip seal road
accessed by industrial businesses in the northwest section of Nederland_ The wear
and tear from heavy trucks has severely damaged the road. Staff proposes full

reconstruction of the road utilizing concrete to withstand the traffic load and weight of
the vehicles. Staff also discussed adding Hodgson Road, which has the same issues
and conditions as Bourque Road, however, budgetary constraints prevent this project
from being undertaken. He said it may be possible to approach the Nederland EDC to
fund this road project.

3. Drainage Improvements:
Mr. Duque stated a total of$305,000 is allocated for drainage improvements projects,
which include the following:

5. Street Lights:
Mr. Duque said there is a total of $50,000 allocated to address street lighting in
underserved neighborhoods. He reminded councilmembers an intern was hired to
survey the existing street lights within the city and map where the underserved areas
are located. The additional street lights will be installed by Entergy. Mr. Duque went
over several neighborhoods where additional street lights are needed.
3. ADJOURN
A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tern Albanese and seconded by Councilmember Neal
to adjourn the Workshop at 4:05 p.m. MOTION CARRIED.
