July 14, 2015
1. MEETING
The meeting was held July 14, 2015 at the City of Nederland Recreation Center at 2301
Avenue H, Nederland, Texas and was called to order by Stephanie Gallagher.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Marty Byrd, Alex Rupp (arrived approximately 12:15pm),
Stephanie Gallagher, Brian Gentile, Sylvia Root
MEMBERS ABSENT:
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Angela Fanette, Parks and Recreation Director, Chris Duque, City
Manager, Kacie Brown, Recreation Assistant
2. APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
Marty Byrd made a motion to approve the previous meeting’s minutes. Stephanie
Gallagher seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
3. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION:
a. Discussion regarding Nederland Veterans Park.
Angela Fanette stated that park construction will begin on July 27, 2015. L & L
Construction is the contractor who was awarded bid by City Council. The project
will be completed no later than mid-October. The park also includes the purchase
of benches and trash receptacles, and a pavilion will be in the back of the park.
No action was needed.
b. Discussion/possible action regarding a request from Tommy Olesky for the
Optimist Cross Country Meet.
Angela Fanette presented a request from Tommy Olesky to host a high school
cross country meet sponsored by the Nederland Optimist Club. The event will
require that the fields are mowed and treated for ants, and will require the use of
the outdoor restrooms and a room in the Recreation Center. NISD will provide
additional insured for the event. Marty Byrd made a motion to recommend
usage of the park for a cross country meet. Stephanie Gallagher seconded the
motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
4. ADJOURN
There being no other business, Marty Byrd made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Stephanie Gallagher seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. The meeting
concluded at 12:34 pm.
