Minutes

1. MEETING
The meeting was held August 11, 2015 at the City of Nederland Recreation Center at
2301 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas and was called to order by Sylvia Root.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Marty Byrd, Alex Rupp (arrived approximately 12:15pm), Brian
Gentile, Sylvia Root
MEMBERS ABSENT: Stephanie Gallagher
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Angela Fanette, Parks and Recreation Director, Chris Duque, City
Manager, Kacie Brown, Recreation Assistant
2. APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
Marty Byrd made a motion to approve the previous meeting’s minutes. Brian Gentile
seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
3. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION:
a. Discussion regarding Nederland Veterans Park.
Angela Fanette stated that work has begun on the park and the grounds were
being cleared and leveled. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid -
October. The park will be dedication on Veterans Day. No action was needed.
b. Discussion regarding pool improvements.
Angela Fanette stated that City Council has approved the solicitation of bids for a
pool improvement project. The project will include adding a splash pad and
resurfacing the pool. Bids will be opened for the project in September to allow
ample time to complete the proposed project and by doing so would help to
prevent a shortened 2016 season. Angela Fanette stated that the summer season
was successful and that the proposed project, if awarded and approved, would be
a welcome addition for patrons of the park. No action was needed.
4. ADJOURN
There being no other business, Marty Byrd made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Brian Gentile seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. The meeting
concluded at 12:37 pm.
