1. MEETING
The meeting was held December 9, 2020 in the City of Nederland Recreation Center at
2301 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas and was called to order by Angela Fanette.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Brandin Shaw, Paul Hussey, Betty Davis-Pruitt, Jason Butler
MEMBERS ABSENT: Alex Rupp
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Angela Fanette, Parks and Recreation Director, Stacy Pinner,
Recreation/Aquatics Assistant
APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
Jason Butler made a motion to approve the previous meeting’s minutes. Brandin Shaw
seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
2. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION
a. Discussion/possible action regarding outdoor basketball courts. Angela Fanette
began the discussion of the proposal from Mr. Richardson as a continuation from
November’s meeting. The City Manager asked Angela Fanette to relay that he is
prepared to consider a half court at Cropo Leblanc park as a possible location for
review for budget process in spring/summer for next year’s budget at this time,
with the understanding that no other issues come up that would force
reprioritization of those funds but the final allocation for funding would be
determined by City Council. Paul Hussey asked that staff to research additional
information including costs for courts to discuss at the next meeting. No action
was taken.
b. Discussion regarding current and proposed park repairs and improvements.
Angela Fanette discussed the current projects in the department. The Recreation
Center roof, gutters and brick work are in the process of being repaired.
Additionally, damage to the pool roof vent is scheduled for repairs. The pool slide
project is nearing closeout and is waiting for inspection. The pool deck project
and tennis court resurfacing project are planned for this budget year. A few of
the tennis court nets and posts were damaged and have been replaced. The
department will also get quotes to repair the tennis court lights. Four new
benches will be installed at Doornbos Park that were donated by the Nederland
Heritage Festival Foundation. At Tex Ritter Park the privacy fence is nearly
complete. Once finished, the department will get quotes to replace the electrical
that ran along the fence. The department has also received several quotes to
repair and level the foundation of the French house museum. In addition, there
are a number of small projects staff is working on, like painting and tree
trimming. No action was needed.
c. Discussion regarding upcoming park programming. City Council has approved
the Rotary Club’s HOFNOD. This was submitted directly since it has been
previously done, and to allow the City Manager to review COVID protocols. City
Council has voted to open the Recreation Center starting Dec. 14th with adjusted
open hours from 2 – 6 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 1 – 5 p.m. Friday. New COVID
protocols require masks, social distancing, reduced capacity, Plexiglas installed at
the front desk, new check in procedures, equipment check out, and extensive
cleaning processes. No action was needed.

There being no other business, Jason Butler made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Brandin Shaw seconded the motion. All voted aye . The motion carried. The meeting
concluded at 12:37 p.m.
