1. MEETING
The meeting was held August 11, 2021 in the City of Nederland Recreation Center at
2301 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas and was called to order by Brandin Shaw.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Brandin Shaw, Alex Rupp, Betty Davis-Pruitt
MEMBERS ABSENT: Jason Butler, Paul Hussey
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Angela Fanette, Parks and Recreation Director
APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
Alex Rupp made a motion to approve the previous meeting’s minutes. Brandin Shaw
seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
2. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION
a. Discussion regarding current and proposed park repairs and improvements.
Angela Fanette gave an update on current and proposed park repairs and improvements.
Angela Fanette stated that the slide project has now closed. Items proposed in the next
budget include a half court basketball court at Cropo Leblanc Park, resurfacing the tennis
courts and repairing lighting at the tennis courts, additional playground at Doornbos Park
and playground repairs and improvements at current sites, pool deck resurfacing, and an
engineering and maintenance on the retaining wall at the pond at Doornbos Park.
Additionally a lighting loop and landscaping is planned at Tex Ritter Park. No action was
needed.
b. Discussion regarding upcoming park programming.
Angela Fanette gave an update on park programming including the summer pool season,
which has been successful. Additional staff was able to be hired to open during the 4th of
July event, which was successful as well. Angela Fanette stated that the walking
incentive program was complete, and that the department hopes to continue that
program each spring. Angela Fanette stated that the upcoming programming includes
Monsters in the Park, set for October 29th, Veterans Day programming, and Christmas on
the Avenue on December 4th. The department is currently planning these programs. No
action was needed.

There being no other business, Brandin Shaw made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Alex Rupp seconded the motion. All voted aye. The motion carried. The meeting
concluded at 12:38 p.m.
