1. MEETING
The meeting was held February 10, 2021 in the City of Nederland Recreation Center at
2301 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas and was called to order by Paul Hussey
MEMBERS PRESENT: Brandin Shaw, Paul Hussey, Betty Davis-Pruitt, Alex Rupp
MEMBERS ABSENT: Jason Butler
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Angela Fanette, Parks and Recreation Director
APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
Brandin Shaw made a motion to approve the previous meeting’s minutes. Alex Rupp
seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
2. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION
a. Discussion/possible action regarding outdoor basketball courts. Angela Fanette
stated she had received three emails in support of outdoor basketball goals from
Ashley Barnes, Brent Blackwell, and Brandy Patteson. Additionally, Mrs. Patteson
offered grant information that Angela Fanette stated she would research.
Estimates for lighting, posts, concrete and fencing were provided. Paul Hussey
asked if there was a way to receive additional feedback from citizens regarding
the installation of a court. Angela Fanette said that she would discuss the
appropriate manner to receive comments with the city manager. Brandin Shaw
stated it would be important to get any neighbors input. No action was taken.
b. Discussion regarding current and proposed park repairs and improvements.
Angela Fanette stated that the department overall did well during the freezing
temperatures, but some plumbing repairs were needed at various areas in the
parks department. The French House foundation project should begin soon. The
pool slide should be close to completion and is waiting on a flow meter install.
Pool deck repairs and renovations are currently being reviewed by staff. No
action was needed.
c. Discussion regarding upcoming park programming.. Angela Fanette stated that
the city is collecting information and photos for the Military and Veterans Banner
program. Currently, there are about 25 submissions. Applications will be
accepted until March 26th. Banners will be placed on Boston Avenue around
Memorial Day. Angela Fanette stated currently, the department is accepting
applications for all pool positions, including lifeguards. Lifeguarding courses are
available at the Port Arthur YMCA and begin this spring. The department is
working on planning the pool season now. The departments Spring Walking
Incentive is set to begin soon and will continue for three months, with Nederland
merchandise to be given for different milestones. No action was needed.

There being no other business, Brandin Shaw made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Betty Davis Pruitt seconded the motion. All voted aye. The motion carried. The meeting
concluded at 12:34 p.m.
