Minutes

1. MEETING
The meeting was held June 8, 2016 at the City of Nederland Recreation Center at 2301
Avenue H, Nederland, Texas and was called to order by Sylvia Root.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Sylvia Root, Brian Gentile, Alex Rupp, Stephanie Gallagher
MEMBERS ABSENT: Marty Byrd
CITY STAFF PRESENT: Angela Fanette, Parks and Recreation Director
2. APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
Alex Rupp made a motion to approve the previous meeting’s minutes. Brian Gentile
seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
3. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION:
a. Discussion/possible action regarding a request from Little Dribblers for usage.
Little Dribblers has requested to use the gym for one hour per week for continued
practice as teams have advanced and need a location for practices. Practices
would be held at a time convenient for the facility and the team and would last
through the end of July. Additional insured can be provided for this usage .
Stephanie Gallagher made a motion to recommend approval of usage. Alex Rupp
seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
b. Discussion regarding the July 4th Fireworks show.
Angela Fanette discussed plans for this year’s Monday evening event. Musical
entertainment will be provided by Still Crusin’ and a firework display will be
presented by The Phoenix Design Group. Sponsorship opportunities are still
available. The Nederland Swimming Pool will be open to the public from 5pm-
10pm. Food Vendors will be invited to participate by invitation only. The facility
will have limited hours of usage for the week prior to the event in order to
prepare for the event. No action was needed.
4. COMMUNICATION
a. Miscellaneous.
Angela Fanette updated the board regarding the proposed smoking ban for pa rks
property – the City Council will review the item at the next council meeting.
There will be no July Parks Advisory Board meeting.
5. ADJOURN
There being no other business, Sylvia Root made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Brian
Gentile seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. The meeting concluded at
12:59pm.
