MEETING The meeting was held January 11, 2017 at the City of Nederland Recreation Center at 2301 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas and was called to order by Sylvia Root. MEMBERS PRESENT: Sylvia Root, Alex Rupp, Stephanie Gallagher MEMBERS ABSENT: Marty Byrd, Brian Gentile CITY STAFF PRESENT: Angela Fanette, Parks and Recreation Director, Stacy Jacobson, Recreation/Aquatics Assistant 2. APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING Stephanie Gallagher made a motion to approve the previous meeting’s minutes. Alex Rupp seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. 3. DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION: a. Discussion/possible action regarding the Nederland Swimming Pool Schedule and Activities. Angela Fanette presented the new changes to the Nederland swimming pool schedule activities. A few of the changes include opening on hour later at 9:00 AM, charging a $10.00 cooler fee, and shortening the length of private pool parties. See attachment for detailed schedule. Alex Rupp made a motion to approve the changes. Stephanie Gallagher seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried. b. Discussion on Parks improvement projects. Angela Fanette gave an update on the current and proposed parks projects for the budget year, including roof and metal work to the Nederland Recreation Center and the cover for the Nederland swimming pool pump area that will begin soon. No action was needed. c. Discussion on Parks programs. Angela Fanette discussed upcoming programming and presented the new program Rec-N-Roll, which would be from 6:30 – 10:00 PM on Friday, February 11th. The program would be offered to a maximum of 25 children from 1st grade to 4th grade and would include gym time, scavenger hunt, arts and crafts, ping pong and pool, pizza, prizes and a movie. The cost would be $25.00 per child and $15.00 per sibling. The Rotary fishing derby “Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs” will be held on February 25th. Trash Bash will be held on March 4th. Art in the Park will be on Earth Day, April 22nd. No action was needed. 4. COMMUNICATION a. Miscellaneous. No additional items were discussed. 5. ADJOURN There being no other business, Stephanie Gallagher made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alex Rupp seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
