AGENDA
NOTICE is hereby given of a regular meeting of the Nederland City Council to be held on Monday,
September 27, 2021, 4:30 p.m., at the Nederland City Hall, 207 North 12th Street, Nederland,
Texas, for the purpose of considering the following agenda items. The City Council reserves the
right to retire into Executive Session concerning any of the agenda items whenever it is considered
necessary and legally justified pursuant to Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.
This meeting will be OPEN to in-person attendance by the public; however due to the spacing
restrictions in the City Council Chamber, masks are encouraged. The City will continue to provide
citizens an alternative method to attend and participate in City Council meetings. Members of the
public can participate remotely via Zoom Teleconferencing. Citizens may join the Zoom Meeting
by clicking on the Virtual Council Meeting https link on the City of Nederland’s website or calling
the Zoom Call in Number and entering the Meeting ID# on the City of Nederland’s website.

3. CONSENT AGENDA—All consent agenda items listed are considered to be routine by the
City Council and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these
items unless a councilmember so requests, in which event the item will be removed from the
Consent agenda and considered separately.
a. Minutes – September 16, 2021 regular meeting
b. August 2021 Departmental Reports
c. Tax Assessor Collection Report – August 2021
d. Consider action regarding a request from Jillian Hunt to hold a “Goat Yoga” event at
Doornbos Park on Sunday, November 7th.
e. Street Closure Requests:
i. Consider action authorizing the closure of Boston Avenue between 14th Street and
17th Street and all intersections on Tuesday, October 5th for the National Night Out
event and the Nederland Fire Department Open House.
ii. Consider action authorizing the closure of various City streets for the Nederland
Heritage Festival activities.
4. REGULAR AGENDA
a. Consider action approving a Proclamation in regard to “World Teacher’s Day.”
b. Conduct a public hearing for the purpose of receiving comments regarding the
rehabilitation or condemnation and demolition of an abandoned and/or dilapidated
structure at the following address: 118 5th Street (front 50E of Lots 1, 2, 3, Block 12 of
Johnson Addition).

c. Discussion and possible action regarding the rehabilitation or condemnation and
demolition of the abandoned and/or dilapidated structure at the following address: 118 5th
Street (front 50E of Lots 1, 2, 3, Block 12 of Johnson Addition).
d. Contracts/Purchases:
i. Consider action approving a work authorization with Schaumburg & Polk, Inc. for
engineering services related to 2022 Flexible Pavement Rehabilitation project.
ii. Consider action authorizing the purchase of three police investigator units via state-
approved contract.
iii. Consider action authorizing the purchase of a garbage truck via state-approved
contract.
iv. Consider action authorizing the purchase of a street broom sweeper via state-
approved contract.
e. Discussion and possible action regarding the donation of the Boston Avenue Arch from
the Nederland Economic Development Corporation.
f. Consider action approving Resolution No. 2021-29, ratifying the action of the Nederland
Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors related to the purchase of 1308
Boston Avenue.
g. Consider action approving Ordinance No. 2021-17, declaring certain utility accounts as
uncollectable.
h. Consider action approving Ordinance No. 2021-18, amending the fiscal year 2020-2021
budget.
